| Recruiting for 2007-08 Membership Year It's not too late to join the consortium. Join before December 17th to have adequate time to be oriented to the survey and to gather data. Click here for more information. Upcoming National Symposium on Student Retention Are you registered yet? The symposium in Milwaukee is coming up fast (September 24-26). Make sure you are registered so you don't miss out. This year we will be having Cliff Adelman, Institute for Higher Education Policy; Steve Robbins, ACT, Inc.; Laurie Schreiner, Azusa Pacific University; and Richard Rafes, East Central University as our guest speakers. We will have pre- and post-conference workshops, member presentations, information sessions, and a fun evening event. Don't miss out!!! For more information click here. The main CSRDE study for the 4-year and 2-year institutions was completed and distributed to our members in June and July respectively. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Completed This year the STEM study was completed in August and made available electronically through our portal site. This optional survey for 4-year institutions, follows first-time, full-time, baccalaureate degree-seeking freshmen majoring in the STEM fields. For more information about our surveys... Beginning in October, CSRDE is introducing a series of webinars for anyone that is interested in student retention and success. Come join us in this exciting new experience. For more details click here. New Reporting Server in Production We have a new reporting server in the makings. This new server allows CSRDE members the ability to create their own peer reports along with allowing better access to student retention and success materials. Keep watching our site for more details and the future launch date.
National Symposium on Student Retention a Success! We had an outstanding symposium in Albuquerque on October 9-11. Our main speakers were Dr. George Henderson, The University of Oklahoma; Dr. Peter Ewell, National Center for Higher Education Management Systems; Dr. Margaret Ford, Houston Community College-Northeast; and Mr. Tim Culver, Ms. Beth Richter and Dr. Elizabeth Herr, Noel Levitz, Inc. There were many outstanding presentations covering topics such as Meritorious Retention Programs, Looking Beyond the First Year Retention, Special Populations, and Best Practices. Congratulations to John Nelson from the University of Ottawa! He
was the winner of a free registration to next year’s symposium,
scheduled for September 24-26, 2007 in Milwaukee. 2006 Best Practices Award Winner The 11th annual CSRDE $1000 Best Practices Award was presented to The University of Central Florida for their paper titled “A Decade in Review: 1995-2005 Building Institutional Collaboration for Successful Student Retention”. Congratulations on a job well done! Membership renewal information has been mailed to current members,
and packets will be in the mail this week for prospective members.
